Over years, involvement in genomic, transcriptomic, and metagenomic approaches has allowed me to cover the role of Scientific Responsible for an Omic Infrastructure with latest-generation instrumentation. Extremely interested in high-tech methodologies exploration and exploitation for human pathologies and microbiology, I focus my attention on the potential of the microbiota-host-exposome network through translational approaches (Omics combined with an in vitro SHIME platform), based on multidisciplinary collaborations, for improving Precision and Personalized Medicine. Many Projects has been conducted through the analysis of 1) Gut Microbiome in health (different diets, lifestyles, and geographical locations), disease states (cancer and non-communicable diseases) and aging; 2) Vaginal Microbiome in women different life stages (in pregnancy, menopause), in association with infections and inflammatory conditions; 3) Respiratory and Rectal Microbiome associated with infections; 4) Host/microbiota and host/pathogens interaction
Research Activities
Transcriptomic analysis of cancer cells, stem cells, organoids, human and murine tissues in disease models
Transcriptomic profiling of bacteria and transcriptomic study of host-pathogen interaction
Study of the microbiome in the onset of complex diseases
Study of the microbiota-host-exposome interactions to elucidate how microbial dynamics and metabolite profiles influence host physiology and disease mechanisms
