Igea D’Agnano, PhD, is an expert in experimental molecular and cellular oncology, with advanced skills in flow cytometry. She was a Visiting Scientist at the Jefferson Cancer Institute, Philadelphia, USA, in 1992. She joined the CNR staff in 1992 and has been a Senior Scientist at the CNR since 2006. For many years, she has focused her studies on novel anticancer therapeutic strategies using synthetic molecules such as antisense oligonucleotides and mimetic oligopeptides targeting the MYC oncogene. Since 2012, her research has focused on the study of circulating microRNAs and extracellular vesicles as mediators of cell-to-cell communication in order to identify liquid biomarkers for early diagnosis of tumors. She is an elected member of the board of directors of the Italian Society of Cytometry (2010-2016, 2022-present). PI in grant from the CNR, MIUR, Ministry of Health, and the Celeghin Foundation. She has published approximately 80 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
