I am a technical collaborator with expertise in clinical microbiological diagnostics (isolation, cultivation of microorganisms and diagnosis of infectious agents by conventional and molecular methods); in phenotypic and molecular determination of antimicrobial susceptibility; in genomic sequencing for the characterization of antimicrobial resistance or virulence determinants. Recent years, I focus my attention on:
1) metagenomic characterization of microbiome in various body regions, in human health and in disease states;
2) study of transcriptional profiles to analyze relation between host/microbial communities and/or host pathogens;
3) an in vitro approach (SHIME platform) for study microbial composition and metabolic activity in mucosal and luminal niches.
Research Activities
Transcriptomic analysis of cancer cells, stem cells, organoids, human and murine tissues in disease models
Sample and library preparation for high-throughput sequencing (bulk, single-cell, small and non-coding RNAs)
Transcriptomic profiling of bacteria and transcriptomic study of host-pathogen interaction
Study of the microbiome in the onset of complex diseases
Study of the microbiota-host-exposome interactions to elucidate how microbial dynamics and metabolite profiles influence host physiology and disease mechanisms
