Infectious diseases epidemiology

This research line focuses on the distribution and determinants of infectious diseases in populations, studying transmission dynamics, risk factors, and prevention and control strategies to reduce spread and impact.

Research Activities

Epidemiological studies of infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, TB, hepatitis B and C) in clinical and non-clinical cohorts, including natural history, disease progression monitoring, immunological, genetic and epidemiological risk factors, efficacy/effectiveness and safety of pharmacological interventions, drug-induced mutations/resistance.

Identification of risks and protective factors as to develop effective prevention strategies aimed at reducing the public health burden of diseases (e.g. RSV and SARS-CoV-2).
