Application area
Immune and chronic diseases
ITB carries out multidisciplinary research on immune- and inflammation‑driven chronic diseases, combining molecular biology, immunology, bioinformatics, and advanced imaging. Activities span the identification of pathogenic mechanisms and molecular targets—such as B‑cell–mediated autoimmunity, myeloid‑driven inflammation, and immune modulation in fibrotic disorders—to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies, including enzyme inhibition approaches with multifunctional activity. In parallel, CNR‑ITB integrates AI‑based and deep‑learning methods to improve disease stratification and the analysis of complex biomedical data, for example through robust MRI segmentation and multiparametric imaging for chronic kidney diseases.
