I am a senior researcher trained in molecular biology with a master’s and PhD degree from the Swiss Institute of Technology (ETHZ). For over 20 years, I have been conducting research in bioinformatics and computational biology. As my primary interest, I am studying gene regulation at the levels of transcription (DNA methylation) and post-transcriptional gene silencing (miRNA). Small RNAs are also involved in plant pathogen defence, and therefore, I was also involved in studies on plant-virus interactions. I am also involved in RNA-seq data analysis, high-quality genome assembly, various types of genome polymorphism, and the creation of the pan-genome. My major results were achieved in plants such as Arabidopsis, cassava (Manihot esculenta), Yam (Dioscorea rotundata) and maize (Zea mays).

Genome assembly of high resolution, haplotype resolved genomes and polymorphism characterization

Transcriptomic profiling for coding and non-coding RNAs biomarker discovery and regulatory pathway analysis

Development, application and optimization of automated pipelines for the analysis of genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics data for large-scale studies.
