I am a senior researcher at the Institute for Biomedical Technologies of the National Research Council of Italy, where I conduct basic and translational research in the field of regenerative and personalized medicine. My work focuses on the integration of stem cells, extracellular vesicles, biomaterials and 3D modelling approaches for cardiac and skeletal muscle tissue regeneration. Following my training in the United States at New York Medical College and Harvard Medical School, I coordinate and collaborate on national and international research projects. My goal is to translate scientific innovation into clinically relevant solutions, with a strong focus on technology transfer and tangible impact on patient health.

Development and validation of patient-specific 3D models, based on iPSCs, to investigate the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms during the onset and progression of cardiovascular and skeletal muscle diseases

Establishment of advanced 3D cultures and organoid-based systems that faithfully recapitulate tissue architecture and microenvironmental complexity for in vitro modelling of human diseases

Design of next-generation regenerative strategies integrating stem cells, functional biomaterials and 3D modelling to restore structure and function in damaged cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues

Engineering of vascularized and functional tissue constructs for translational and preclinical applications, with the aim of accelerating the transfer of regenerative technologies toward clinical use

Investigation of dynamic cell–cell and cell–matrix communication , with a focus on extracellular vesicles and biomechanical cues regulating tissue regeneration and disease progression

Harnessing extracellular vesicle–mediated signaling to actively modulate regeneration, immune interactions and pathological remodeling within engineered 3D tissue models
