Epidemiology and Physiology

Epidemiology and Physiology Research at ITB focuses on uncovering patterns of disease occurrence in human populations and investigating the factors that influence these patterns, including underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. This area includes extensive expertise in designing and conducting epidemiological observational studies (online surveys, cross-sectional, longitudinal, case-control, and population-based omics studies) and experimental studies including clinical trials and intervention, across all age groups. Competencies span participants recruitment, protocol development, ethical and GDPR-compliant data management, and the application of advanced statistical methods for data analysis and interpretation. The team also has strong capabilities in analysing health information system data, such as electronic health records and claims databases. Valuable expertise in clinical, pharmacological, nutritional and molecular epidemiology, along with exercise physiology contributes to a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of health and disease.
